Shovel ready: Ministry of Education provides more funding, construction tender awarded, for new Belmont elementary school
The Thames Valley District School Board is pleased to announce the Ministry of Education has provided $2.3 million in additional funding for a new elementary school in Belmont, bringing the total funding to $24.2 million.
TVDSB also awarded a construction tender for the new school to Graceview Enterprises Inc.
Located along the south side of Seventh Avenue and west of Snyders Avenue in Belmont, the new school will accommodate 507 students. It’s expected to open for September 2026.
“This new school will mean a lot for our students, and for the community of Belmont. I’m very pleased construction will soon be underway,” said Bill Tucker, Interim Director of Education for TVDSB.
Construction of a new school for Belmont has been five years in the making and couldn’t have happened without support from the Municipality of Central Elgin.
“This marks an exciting milestone in Belmont,” said Central Elgin Mayor Andrew Sloan. “We are proud to support this project and look forward to seeing construction begin on a school that will serve local families and meet the needs of our growing community.”
The new Belmont school is one of 10 new elementary schools set to be built in Thames Valley by the TVDSB. These schools are critical in ensuring growing communities in Thames Valley have access to modern, high-quality education facilities.
The Ministry of Education announced funding for a Belmont elementary school in July 2020.
